The overall mission of
CIPhER –
Center for Innovative Pharmacy Education and Research – is to improve the practice of pharmacy education and enhance the scholarship of and research on pharmacy education within the UNC Eshelman School, nationally, and internationally. More specifically,
CIPhER aims to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of curricula and instruction by providing professional development and support to faculty, clinical preceptors, postgraduate fellows, residents and teaching assistants.
CIPhER also aims to help faculty and others design, implement, present and publish educational research and scholarship. In addition, the Center helps faculty compete for education-related grants – and generate income by commercializing education-related products such as: surveys, inventories, tests, teaching materials, online instruction, and digital applications. To achieve these aims,
CIPhER offers onsite and online training workshops and institutes, hosts the School's Teaching & Learning Certificate program, provides consultation, and coordinates relevant, mutually beneficial efforts with entities such as the UNC Center for Faculty Excellence, other UNC health science schools, the UNC School of Education, ACPE, ACCP, and the PharmAlliance.
