Conducting a High-Quality Systematic Review: Tools and Best Practices

Do you know what’s in the literature?  The literature review process can be complex and burdensome.  This program will cover the methodologies, best practices, and important tools for conducting systematic reviews. Participants will learn about common types of comprehensive literature review (including scoping reviews, systematized literature reviews, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses), the methods to follow in planning and conducting a review and tools and resources to improve review efficiency.  Participants will discover the value of including information professionals in the review team.
 
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  1. Describe the systematic review process
  2. Identify essential resources for planning and completing a systematic review
  3. Outline a proposal for a systematic review on a topic of interest

The University Of North Carolina Eshelman School Of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. ACPE program 0046-9999-20-052--L04-P provides 1.0 contact hour of continuing pharmacy education credit. To receive CE credit, participants must complete the CE attendance form and the online evaluation of the program (included in LECE which will open after the workshop). Statements of credit can be viewed and printed in CPE Monitor in approximately 2 to 3 weeks. **No partial credit will be available**
 
 
 
 
Event FAQ
  • Lunch will be provided at 11:30 AM. When you register, please indicate if you will attend the lunch session and include any dietary restrictions.
  • Parking passes are available only for guests and visitors employed at locations outside of the UNC campus.  Please bring your parking deck ticket to the event to receive a pass.
  • A Zoom link will be provided prior to the program via a confirmation email for registrants who indicate they will attend the program remotely.  We must be able to to tie your Zoom login to your registration (please use your name) in order to receive CE credit.
Presenter Information

 

Rebecca is the Librarian for the Eshelman School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. She also serves as a Director for the Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice at UNC-Chapel Hill, representing the Health Sciences Library. She received a B.A. in English and Education from Concordia University-Portland and a M.S. in Library Science from UNC-Chapel Hill. Previously, she was the Director of the Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences Library at Southwest Baptist University and then a Clinical Librarian at UNC-Chapel Hill. She routinely co-authors and consults on systematic reviews on topics in education, research, and professional practice. She also investigates new tools and methodologies for review processes and teaches on review methods, including proposal development, literature searching and data management, quality assessment and data extraction, and manuscript development.
