2020 CIPhER Summer Institute in Evidence-based Teaching and Course Design


In light of the recent developments and restrictions due to COVID-19, the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy’s Center for Innovative Pharmacy Education and Research (CIPhER) is canceling the 2020 Summer Institute in Evidence-Based Teaching & Course Design which was scheduled for May 18-21, 2020.  This decision was made in consideration of Federal, State and University policies regarding social distancing and limiting travel.
 
The Summer Institute in Evidence-based Teaching & Course Design will return in 2021 with a focus on providing teaching on contemporary best practices for education, hands-on workshops, expert mentoring and feedback as well as time for individual/team projects.  Once plans are finalized, we will reach out to you with the details.

Target Audiences -- The 2019 CIPhER Summer Institute is designed for educators from pharmacy and related health sciences who are committed to improving the effectiveness of teaching, assessment and course design in order to enhance student learning quality and success.
 
Through this intensive, interactive four-day institute, you will...
  • Develop/refine your own individual or team project to improve key aspects of teaching, assessment, and/or course design in your institution;
  • Learn powerful, evidence- and research-based strategies and techniques;
  • Develop transferable skills and knowledge to share and disseminate;
  • Gain strategies for doing research/scholarship and publishing on your project;
  • Enhance your effectiveness as a leader/facilitator of academic innovation; and
  • Extend and enrich your professional network.
 
The University Of North Carolina Eshelman School Of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. ACPE program 0046-9999-20-001-L04-P provides 20.00 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education credit. To receive CE credit, participants must verify attendance, and complete the evaluation form(s) of this program. Participants must provide their name, email address, NABP e-Profile ID, and date of birth (MMDD) to receive credit. Statements of credit can be viewed and printed in CPE Monitor in approximately 2 to 3 weeks. It is the participant's responsibility to check CPE Monitor to verify credit has been uploaded. If credit is not shown please contact the provider.
**No partial session credit will be given**

Location -- The Rizzo Center, near the UNC Chapel Hill campus. [Map]
 
Fee -- $1075 per person for individuals, and $975 per person for institutional teams of 3 or more.
This fee includes breakfast, lunch and breaks each day, opening reception and dinner on Monday, May 18th, and all institute materials.
Please note: The registration fee does not include participant transportation and lodging. (See our logistics page for information regarding hotels and ground transportation.)
**To register an institutional team of 3 or more and obtain the discounted registration fee of $975 per participant please contact cipher@unc.edu prior to registration.  Include the following information in your email:  Institution name, address, and phone number and the name, email address, and phone number of each participant in your team.  You will receive an individual coupon code via email to apply to your registration.

Individuals who register for the Summer Institute and cancel prior to April 18, 2020 will receive a full refund less a cancellation fee of $100. No refund will be provided to individuals who cancel on or after April 18, 2020. Cancellations MUST be in writing and should be submitted to cipher@unc.edu.
 
By registering you are automatically agreeing to:
1. Grant the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (the “University”) the irrevocable right and permission to use photographs and/or video recordings of me on University and other websites and in publications, promotional fliers, educational materials, derivative works, or for any other similar purpose without compensation to me.
2. Agreeing that such photographs and/or video recordings of me may be placed on the Internet.
