Engaging Conflict Productively

12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Friday, March 10, 2023, Beard 209/Karpen 115 and via Zoom
 
Conflict is inevitable and a part of life. In this session, participants will examine ways in which they can manage conflict productively, embrace conflict, remain focused on strategic goals, and leverage conflict as a source for learning and creativity. In addition, participants will reflect on how self-awareness and deeper understanding of conflict patterns and resolutions styles can help them be better equipped to productively engage and leverage conflict to fit particular situations within the classroom or on a team. 
 
 
Learning Objectives:  At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
  1. Examine ways in which they can manage conflict productively and remain focused on strategic goals
  2. Outline techniques to leverage conflict as a source for learning and creativity
  3. Identify tactics to productively engage and leverage conflict to fit particular situations within the classroom or on a team
 
Target Audience:  This program is designed for faculty, staff, preceptors, post-graduate trainees, and students.
 
REGISTRATION DEADLINE:  Tuesday, March 7, at 5 p.m.
 
The University Of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. ACPE program 0046-9999-23-051-L99-P provides 1.0 contact hour of continuing pharmacy education credit. To receive CE credit, participants must sign-in upon arrival (in class or online), attend the entire program and complete the evaluation within 60 days of the program date (included in LECE which will open after the workshop). Statements of credit can be viewed and printed in CPE Monitor in approximately 2 to 3 weeks. **No partial credit will be available**
 
 
Presenter Information
Leah Cox, PhD, Vice Provost for Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer, Office of the Provost, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Dr. Leah Cox serves as the Vice Provost of Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In this role, Dr. Cox is a member of the Chancellor’s and Provost’s respective leadership cabinets and is tasked with informing and implementing the institution’s strategy, processes, and infrastructure related to building UNC’s community together. Dr. Cox is also responsible for developing systems that prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion across a breadth of university activities, including hiring, training and professional development, promotion and tenure, teaching, research, evaluation, and budgeting and resource allocation. Dr. Cox supports the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, as well as the Chancellor, on decision-making and messaging on matters related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
 
 
 
 
Cloe Liparini, MA, Director of Education, Community Engagement and Belonging, Office for Diversity and Inclusion, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Cloe Liparini serves as the Director of Education, Community Engagement, and Belonging in the University of North Carolina Office for Diversity and Inclusion, where she manages the training and education team. She has responsibilities for the design and implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion educational offerings, programs, and experiential activities and for the coordination and/or execution of special projects and programs aimed at bolstering diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural awareness, and engaging diverse constituents through fostering partnerships and collaborations. In this role, Cloe conceptualizes and implements strategies that guide diversity, equity, and inclusion education and training for students, faculty, and staff at the University of North Carolina.
